Čiurlionis’ Marathon 2020

Finale from “Sonata of the sea” by M.K. Čiurlionis is a painting I use to stare with excitement and fear when I was a child. I would picture myself being in one of those boats until I’d be too scared to look, yet I would always return to check it out again with the same excitement you have before a scary ride. This was my first meeting with Čiurlionis and first time to experience such a strong emotion evoked by art. I was too little to notice the initials M.K.Č right in front of me or yet to realise how much my future will be entangled with this composer and painter.

This year we are celebrating 145th birthday of M.K. Čiurlionis and for this reason Lithuanian pianists based in London gathered to play some of his greatest works. Lots of beautiful music, a cosy atmosphere and wonderful performing in the link below.
